The purpose is simply to help people, or more specifically, provide a medium through which people can help each other.

People post their problems and other people help them with the most powerful charity there is… Knowledge!

Instead of “teach a man to fish,” Philans.com aims to teach the world to fish! (well, you know what I mean)

I am very excited about the potential of this site to help people. Not only will it allow a free flow of solutions and knowledge but it will allow people to collaborate in helping each other.

So please head over and help someone out, or post a help request so someone can help you!

I found a good setup for the site and brain stormed how I want it to function. Now I need to translate my mental image to the website, which can be tough at times.

I’m working on a good logo like I have here, but something a little more upbeat. Blue is a nice happy color. I want my visitors feel better when they use this site as it is strongely focused on helping others.

Hopefully I can launch the site in the next few days. Then I need drive traffic to it so I can get it started. Once it’s going it will grow on it’s own, but it will need a good push to get going. I will need your help and the help of others to get it going.

Sounds great right? Well it is if I can find a good domain name for it!

I’ve tried countless words and phrases that describe it, I’ve even tried latin words for it, but every dot com name is taken!

I guess that really says something for virtual real estate. In 10-20 years you will be buying Domain Names through brokers, not registrars. And all the big companies will get in on it.

Imagine: Google Domains, Microsoft Virtual Real Estate, etc.

But back to the main topic… I hate anything but dot com names, they don’t carry the same weight as dot com names and they appear cheap and/or scammy.

Would you rather buy from “T-Shirts.com” or “T-Shirts.vg”?

So, for me, it must be a dot com name. I would prefer it to be relevant as well, but then again relevent doesn’t seem to matter much when it comes to domain names.

For example:

Google.com: A large number known only by nerds who think binary is cool

Yahoo.com: What you say when you’re drunk and getting chased by a bull in Mexico

Amazon.com: A jungle in South America and a mythical tribe of warrior women

Twitter.com: A place where you can let everyone in the world know when you need to punish your toilet with the taco bell you ate for lunch.

So I guess I don’t need it to be relevant… I just need it to be six letters or less and be an actual word.

Hmmm… Despite that sad attempt at comedy, I think that writing this gave me some new ideas. I’ll let you know when I figure something out…

My goal is to build RiskyShift into a brand and company. That’s a huge task but I like a challenge. Currently, things may appear to be moving slow, but I assure you I am busy at work behind the scenes.

Right now I am working on:

• A new landing page for RiskyShift.com (looks really good so far)
• A new product that will implement a new “technology” I thought of
• Rebranding my other products with the RiskyShift brand
• A couple software projects I seem to never finish

Two things keep me from finishing these things… Lack of focus and lack of time. So any tips on time management or focus would be appreciated. I have some serious ADD, my mind is far too active to slow down and focus on one thing for long. For example: I am thinking of how to design a boat hull to be more efficient as I write this… Seriously!

Hopefully, I will have the new improved RiskyShift.com finished in the next day or two. I’m really proud of how it looks, I designed the logo and background myself.

At this point, I just launched the site and there is still a lot of work to be done.

In the future the main domain will be a sort of frontpage type deal, with links to this blog and all my other sites.

I plan to make as much software as possible available for free to you guys, but the software needs to be packaged properly before I can give it away.

The idea is to set them up like “Forms” so you can just go in, select a few options, and have it display the the code you need. Then you just copy & paste that code and you’re good to go.

Since, I can only do one at a time, I will let you decide the order I do them…

Which Free Software Do You Want First?

The options are:

1.  An affiliate redirect script for Clickbank which allows you to have multiple products on one Clickbank account. This way affiliates can add a product id to their affiliate link so the link leads to the desired product.

2. Popup Maker software – Allows you to put one of those little hovering popups on your site.

3. A little program I made to verify customers at the download page for Clickbank products. Not very fancy but it gets the job done. Uses their reciept number as a password.

So those are the choices… I have alot of other software I may offer for free in the future but these are the ones I can make available the fastest.

If you have an idea for some software, let me know, I might just make it and give you a free copy.

After a few days I will post the results and get the software up here for everyone.

Why RiskyShift.com?

I like the name and it’s a interesting group psychology phenomenon.

From Wikipedia:

“The risky shift is the tendency for decisions taken by a group after discussion to display more experimentation, be less conservative and be more risky than those made by individuals acting alone prior to any discussion.”

Richard Branson’s primary company is Virgin, mine is RiskyShift.

Now time for some background about me. I’m Florida born and raised. My interests are Business, Marketing, Programming, Math, Psychology, Behavior Modification, and all things technology.

I got started in Online Business about 5 or so years ago. Created a few products and did fairly well with them. I certainly didn’t get rich off them, but the income was more than I was able to make at a job, so I loved it.

Recently things have changed due to unexpected events… but I’ll talk about that more next time.

What do I plan for the future of this site?

I have two goals. First I want to create a company not just to make money, but to help other people.

I’ve come to the realization that in order to have anything, you must first give it to someone else.

Cheesy? Oh well…

I’m not sure what the future of this site holds but I want it to help people… So that is what I will focus on for now.
